Subject: 1 Iron Success in League Play

I play in a 9 hole league on Tuesday mornings. I have had several causal rounds under par, but today I posted my first sub par round in league play.

I started out par, par, par. I birdied the next two holes. I finished with a par, par, bogey, and par for a score of 1 under.

I won two skins for the birdies, and I posted the lowest gross score.

I can honestly say that I would not be playing this well if not for my 1 Irons. I love the consistent set up position, which makes my iron play so easy.

When other players hit driver or three wood, I am hitting 3 or 4 iron. Why? It's not just that I am playing safe. I know the precise distance that each of my clubs will travel, because my swing has been grooved by my consistent set up. Usually I am hitting my second shot from the fairway about the same distance to the green as "driver guy." The main difference is that I am in the fairway, and he is in the scruff. Knowing where the ball will end up before I swing sure has made the game more enjoyable for me.

I do not know why anyone would want to play clubs other than 1 Irons. I honestly don't.
