Subject: Low Score

Shot a 75 today, 33 on back 9 at PGA golf Club Ryder Course in Port St Lucie, Florida today. That included a triple bogey 7 and a double bogey 6 on the front. Have had 1 Iron clubs for about 3 years, just went back to them about 3 months ago and my iron play has never been better. I have crept back to an 8 index after getting down to 5.1, but went back to 1 Iron clubs and I am heading back down. Have been around 78 to 82, and that has been with a balky driver. Have two sets of 1 Iron clubs and can't imagine playing without them anymore

You say you just 'went back' to your 1-irons.
I'm curious, what made you initially move away from using them?

Was feeling better and hitting my irons better than I ever had. Had 3 back operations and 3 knee operations. 1 iron clubs allowed me to play almost pain-free, so I figured I could go back to "conventional" clubs and play well. After going bck to conventional clubs for 6 months started to hurt again and started to miss iron shots again. I think David stated earlier when you hit irons with low numbers on them you tend to swing harder, so I think that was causing the problem. I was trying to hit that 2 and 3 irons too hard. Went back to 1 iron clubs and my swing went consistently back to about 88 mph with the irons, the accuracy and consistentcy came back and the pain went away. Swinging s 3 iron like a 7 iron certainly gives you both of those things and I find I have not lost any distance, maybe gained a little due to consistentcy. My 3 iron probably goes 210 to 230 depending on conditions
