I have been a Moe Norman follower for 2 years, work with Graves brothers, and switched to the 1Irons 3-LW and 3, 5 woods last November, and new driver when it came out shortly after. I am incredibly happy with irons. I have Winn midsize grips with no build up. I play the ball where I played my former 8 iron which is same length as my 1Iorns - just ahead of middle of my stance with 3-LW.

I lost distance (1 full club) for first 30 plus days, but gained much more accuracy. At 6' 5" was very happy to not only gain accuracy with long irons, but also with wedges which the same length really helped with. At about 90 days into process, I was hitting same distance to plus 5 yards per iron as I worked on swinging every club identically, and especially not over swinging.

I hit the 3 wood about 240 vs 250 for previous club, and 5 wood about 210 vs former club at 225 and have not gained that back - accuracy about the same so I have been switching back and forth.

With the driver I have been hitting it about 255-260 vs 280-290 with previous club, but with much more accuracy. I have been experimenting with square driver at 2 inch longer length, but not happy with accuracy - time will tell. Probably switch back to 1Iron driver as accuracy/consistency is king!

Overall my handicap (and I post everything with no freebies) has dropped from 13.9 to a 9.6, and I believe I will be at 8 to 9 by end of summer.

After taking lessons from Todd Graves and continuing to work on my Moe Normon swing, I am 100% behind my 1Iron irons - I am still in search of a little more distance with my woods and driver, but will probably sacrifice in the end for accuracy - which has produced lower scores. I just played a full 18 holes with only 3-LW and putter (no woods) today on 6200 yard men's tees and played great (for me) shot 80 with many opportunities to score better. Accuracy is where it is at!

Hope this opinion and experience helps!

Jonathan

Thanks for the info. Sounds like several members have had success combining the single axis approach with 1Irons. I am considering trying the non tapered grips on my 1Irons. Has anyone used this type of grip? How has it worked for you? Thanks, Jerry
