We have found that an oversize grip results in greater power transfer and control for all golfers regardless of hand size. This is why we only install 1/8" oversize grips.

Many great golfers in the past have used a ten-finger grip. I have also played using a ten finger grip and performed quite well.

The reason for the reverse taper on a baseball bat is that the bat is being swung directly in front of you on a horizontal plane. The reverse taper accommodates the position of the hands and the wrist functions with a horizontal swing. On the other hand, a golf club is swung in more of a vertical plane and the standard golf grip taper accommodates the hand and wrist function in this type of swing plane. Also, the thinner portion of the grip under the right hand produces more control whereas you do not need that level of control when swinging a baseball bat.

Sam: They do make reverse taper golf grips - Enlow makes one that I have personally tried on a full set of clubs. I just didn't like them! With the more vertical golf swing, I found it hard to control the swing plane and even harder to get the "feel" of the club. It's like holding on to a large carrot! Where you normally have the thinner portion, the reverse-taper grip is over 1-1/4 inches thick so it is difficult to control the club. I've also tried oversize non-taper grips and they aren't any better. As Mr. Lake states, the 1/8" oversize grip "results in greater power transfer and control". The 1-Iron grips are some of the very best out there today and I HIGHLY recommend them. They are comfortable, easy to control, and really do their job well! Take care and hit 'em straight! R2
