Subject: Proline Irons

Hi Everyone

The comments on this forum were very helpful in deciding to purchase One Iron golf clubs.

Just unboxed my set of demo One Iron Prolines this morning at work. I must say they look virtually brand new so well done on getting them to me in such great condition.

I am going to experiment with these irons over the next week or so. And look forward to seeing if they will improve my game.

I went to the range this afternoon and hit the 9-iron, 8-iron and for laughs, the 3-iron. They do take a bit of getting used to. For example, I have developed a bit of a hook, especially with the 8-iron. Possibly this is due to the extra thickness in the grips? I will look into what I am doing incorrectly at the next range session.

The highlight was absolutely nailing my 3-iron with a slight draw.

Anyway, I will keep you updated on my progress. Rome wasn't built in a day!

Hit about 50-60 balls again this afternoon. Really pleasing progress.

After my hook issues yesterday I went on to YouTube and saw that I was hooding the golf club excessively. Instead of the toe of the club pointing straight up at the sky a quarter through the backswing (which it should be) it was angled to the right. So I made a conscious effort to rotate the club around my body, but keeping the toe up. My second swing thought was NOT to post to my right side through the downswing but to stay in the shot, maintain my position and rotate to the left. This is BIG departure from normal golf instruction. I've also narrowed my stance slightly so my feet are a shoulder width apart. I've learnt this from David Lake's 50 page instruction booklet

Overall, I hit about 30 9-irons, about 25 PW and 3 3-irons. About 80% of the shots I was happy with. It feels like I am developing a groove for these clubs. Confidence is rising. Next range session on Saturday :)

Hi Everyone

Played my first ever round with the new clubs on Saturday. I had a fair to middling round. My short irons weren't as good as I was hoping for, but it may have to do with swaying forward motion in the downswing I need to get rid of. However, the 3-iron was great and I hit my best ever 5-iron into the green from 175 yards. Pitched softly onto a downhill green and a proceeded to drain the 5 foot putt.

Will go to the range this afternoon and hit off the grass, using my 6-9 irons. The big miss for me at the moment with these clubs are a swipe short and right. Hopefully I contain the swaying.

FYI for the round I shot an 88. A really good score for me in 80-83 so not overly bad. My driving was good so that was pleasing.

Congrats on the clubs! I also have the Pro Line and love them. Consistency has come with finding the right ball position in my stance.

You are correct about the sway. Hope you get used to them soon because they are great clubs.

I also bought some iron covers on Amazon made by Craftsman. They are outstanding. Also, thinking about buying the distance markers sold on the One Iron Website. What a great idea.

Good luck!
Jeff

Funnily enough Jeffery I bought some iron covers online and they were very similar to the Craftsmen covers that you probably bought.

Played my second round on Sunday, not as good as the first round but played the last 5 holes 2-over par. These are the hardest holes on the course in my opinion so pleased with that. Best of all – no swaying!

Your game will just keep getting better. The more I play with these clubs, I'm finding my "sweet spot" of ball position to get the best contact. The good thing is that you get more consistent with all clubs because it's the same swing.

Currently, I'm using the Easiest Swing method by Brian Sparks (look on Youtube). Now I don't have pain, swing with little effort, and get great results with these clubs!

Good luck with your journey.

Thanks for your feedback Jeffrey. Went and played a course that was new to me in the weekend. Shot 90 but that included a triple and double on two par 3s! Never mind. But I did hit the best 5 iron for a very long time... about 180 yards from the pin with my second into a long par 4... hit it to within 15 feet.

I have to admit, when I let the club do the work the results are fantastic. Not much effort required when you use gravity. It was particularly pleasing hit a SW into par 4 and getting good distance.

I will check out the Brian Sparks videos now.

Just shot my 3rd best score ever – 82!

I now have 3 rounds of golf at different courses. This will be a true test, as one of the courses can be quite difficult. Having said that, I am looking forward to it.
