Subject: Sittin' In The Mornin' Sun

Remember that song? Talk about HEAT! We have had the hottest days of the year the past two days. Seems the storm off the East Coast created the problem. A heat index of 105 degrees! Everything from chickens, to dogs, to the garden is suffering.... AND no rain. Every one around us received rain last evening. This morning is cooler, lower humidity, and more rain and storms are in the forecast. Maybe my turn for rain will be today. I am calling this year, They Year of the Cucmuber... I am picking a peck of cucumbers from my garden daily. It has slowed somewhat since the current dry spell, but, the plants are still spittin' out the cukes! Just amazing, last year, I couldn't even buy a cucumber from the garden... This time last year, my grass was brown and crunchy... This year, I am mowing the lawn weekly, stretching out the field mowing to every two weeks to save on fuel costs. Yep, summer is finally here!!
