Without going back over too much old ground, I'll try to answer your question:-

People thought A/B/C/D split is sometimes unfair - so 2 division qualifying was better
People though a team match should produce a team result and team prizes.

Hence TMTM was dreamed up. IMTM is an alternative which still has team prizes and still has 2 division qualifying rather than A/B/C/D, but isn't quite as radical as TMTM.

If you want to make an informed judgement of which scoring system is better "value" in terms of team spirit/efficiency of scoring it would be good to have seen both formats. They are pretty easily comparable, since they should have the same "feel" on the day with 2 divisions, some As/Bs in 2nd division some C/Ds in top division, and team prize giving.

I can't believe that IVDA GM will go back to old format, and may decide even with an IMTM touchy feely "test" to go for the radical new format (unlike anything in any other sport or indeed the wider danesport world.) TMTM isn't all bad by any means, IMTM may be a little or a lot worse in certain areas and a litte/lot better in others, it depends on your point of view, but both meet the very broad aims above.

Ian
