 I have a real hard time defining movies as "important". I am also someone who doesn't walk out of a theater saying "Wow, that movie was powerful"! It disgusts me. I see movies for enjoyment and education value. That is all.
2 movies that have and will define their era include "JFK" and "Easyriders". Stone's vision, while a bit overblown, made us all rethink the varied scenarios of John Kennedy's assasination. "Easyriders" told the story of 2 bikers lost in a socially divided America. However, this movie may mean more to motorcyclists since not everyone understands the freedoms of owning a motorcycle. Yet, still a movie that has stood the test of time.
Deep Throat is a wonderful movie full of spunk and ...well...many other things. My all-time favorite line from that terrific movie, "Mind if I smoke while you eat". Oh so good! I heard Mel Gibson is going to try and cash in on this classic by making a sequel entitiled, "The Passion of the Deep Throat". From what I have been told, this movie will document the extreme suffering Lucy Lovelace endured from all the fellatio she gave during the making of the movie.
