Clever catch on the typo. I am not a chauvanist, either. But I see plenty of societal trends toward emasculation of American men and it disturbs me. For example - why all the diagnoses of ADHD these days, and the use of psychotropics to control it? This happens overwhelmingly in boys, and it the vast majority of cases, it would seem to me that the hyperactivity is a natural part of boyhood. And yet the educational establishment, rather than accepting this for what it is (as had been done for decades) now perfers that boys be quiet and sit still, like the girls do. But boys are not girls, despite this attempt at the contrary. It's also chic to bash men in popular culture these days; have seen the movie "Chocolat?" This was a best picture nominee. The portrayal of masculinity was appalling; (not to mention that of Christians); if this kind of negative stereotype had been put upon women, or any ethnic group, there would have been an uprising. Do the same thing to men, and the movie gets an oscar nod. These are just two examples I can cite; I see them all the time; I started noticing them long about 1999 or so and if you like, I can start keeping a record to show you how much more prevalent it's becoming. One last thign I'd like to note is that you didn't address some of the points I made directly in the column, and perhaps it's because you don't have answers for them, which is fine, but i'm just wondering your opinion; would you agreethat the feminist movement is behind a popular notion that stay at home motherhood is a second class position? would you agree that the feminist movement embraced and helped create the overt oversexuality embraced by women today? Why are so many women, including those with a high public profile in professions as well as celebrities single-issue voters? I don't expect you to answer for all of womanhood, either. But since you have taken up the Clarion Call so far, I thought I'd pick your brain a little more.

Finally, some heated discussion!!!
