I believe schools can offer scholarships for advanced native students and we have some but they do not get the opportunities. We thought about UNM for my daughter, but those plans changed. As a parent, I have to look at financial aid and scholarships for her and I better hurry up! Some high schools give scholarships and I believe native kids are overlooked when it's time to distribute those funds. Our one friend's daughter got full scholarship from IHS to attend UNM this past Fall, going into phamacy. Parents need to apply for scholarships and meet the deadlines right now! Just get the kids into any college or university, Jr. College, 3-tier, State, etc. We need to get our kids educated!!! Look at the Blacks how they raise millions of dollars for their Negro Scholarship fund, we need to raise money like that. You educators can do a lot more than complaining and sitting on your butts. This one guy is doing a great job getting the kids interested in higher education, no matter where he takes them. Some Indian students and their parents need help with everything from filling out forms to writing letters. Once the kids get in college they have to take on that responsibility.
