OPK:

I do not see why lagirl's post would be taken as a verbal attack. In my decision to keep my son, these are the exact same questions I had to ask myself. It's really hard to raise a child, and it puts a strain on any relationship. These are just factors a woman has to consider -- any woman, not just Kangi.

When I read lagirl's post, I thought "wow, how I wish they would hand this out to young teenage girls as required reading." (btw, lagirl -- may I copy this to show to the young girls I know here?)

Kangi:
This is a decision only you can make. If you really want this and are prepared for it -- absolutely, go for it. There are higher risks in having babies over 40, but just be sure to have good prenatal care. I have no doubt that you would make an excellent mother -- you already are one.

I'm 44. Maybe it's just because I am ill, but I cannot imagine having a baby at my age. I was 25 when my son was born. I made it through those early years because I had A LOT of energy back then, but it took most of my energy (all those sleepless nights, diapers, feeding, laundry, crying, mood swings, worry -- I shudder). Just thinking about all I had to do back then makes me tired.

Think I'll go take a nap.

Kathy
