Subject: Parenting--it ain't easy!

Bella--
It has been my experience that on some level, we all approach child-bearing from a purely selfish point of view, myself included.

After all, the urge to reproduce is one of the strongest urges humans have. "It's my RIGHT to have kids, dammit!" And yet, how many of us ever had a clue as to what child-rearing entails, before the kids came along? I sure didn't. Talk about on-the-job training!

I sometimes look back on certain situations with my kids and how I handled them and think to myself "If only I had known then what I know now...." But of course, hindsight is always 20/20. :-(

It is the nature of parenting that we learn our lessons too late for them to do our kids any good.
