I agree that, especially in the eyes of BMW NA, this is a PR issue. However, I must stress the safety issue here. Sure, the likelihood of someone getting killed is less than, say, a front brake or tire failure, but it's still far greater than most equipment failures and far greater than I think we owners should tolerate.

There is, indeed, power in numbers. This forum and my pages are intended to bring us together to seek a resolution. I agree, too, that our initial approach should be open-minded and courteous. We must, however, have something to back it up.

Walk softly and carry a big stick.

The stick, in this case, will be the promise of a concerted media campaign and a class action suit. They will be an unfortunate necessity of BMW doesn't come around soon enough.
