Okay, I had a bad afternoon at work this may be on the long side so bear with me. At about 3:45ish this afternoon I got a phone call from a customer who had place a wire order to go to a different city for today and her sister hadn't received it yet and she was off work at 5pm. She told me it was supposed to go out this morning so that her sister could look at it all day while she worked. I told her I had to phone the hoteline to find out what was going on. She started to get snotty with me then telling me that I didn't have time to phone anyone and that i had to find out what was going on now. I told her that I needed to make a few phone calls in order to find out what was going on. She told me to phone back in 10 minutes and I said I'd try but that it might take me a few minutes to get through but I'd try my hardest. So fine, I phone the hotline, got the store # that the order went to and phoned them. They tell me that the order went out but what time it went out they aren't sure but they would try to track it down and get it there before the sister gets off work. Then she tells me how there delivery system works there and my jaw just about hit the floor. Apparently,the deliveries are picked up at 10, 2 and 4. then they are taken to a warehouse and split up according to what part of the city the deliveries are going to. With this system the deliveries could litterally sit there for hours before the cusomer gets their flowers. You know what we do??? We do the orders call the customer to make sure they're home and then call the delivery company. They then deliver the order to the customer. This whole process usually takes an hour from phone call to delivery.I phone the customer back and told her that the order went out and they are trying to track it down so they can get it to her sister. The customer then starts to raise her voice about how if her sister doesn't get the order by the time she leaves work she wants her money back and that it was supposed to be delivered in the morning so that her sister could look at it all day while she's at work. I can understand her wanting her money back if she doesn't get it by the time she leaves work after all I'm a reasonable person. I look at the order and it says nothing about an AM delivery. I nicely tell the customer this. She raises her voice again and tells me that the order was for a BIRTHDAY and that it should be common sense. So I said that we still needed to know that so it would have gotten out earlier and she raises her voice again and tells me again how she is not happy and that she wants her money back and that it should have been there in the morning. By this time I'm starting to get defensive and if I don't get off the phone soon I'm going to loose it on her and loose my job in the process because there is nothing more I can say to her that hasn't been said already without getting myself into trouble. Luckily my department manager is there and she's the one that took the order in the first place and I figured maybe she should have a little chat with this woman. I aked her if she would like to talk to my manager and she said sure so handed the phone to Laura and gave her fair warning that she was starting to yell. Laura takes the phone and tells her that she was the one who took the order and asked her what she could do for her. When Laura got off the phone she said that she told her that if the flowers didn't show up by quitting time she could come and get her money back but if they did, seeing as how she didn't give her a time limit other then before 5 pm she couldn't which is totally reasonable because I guess she had originally told Laura that they needed to be there before 5 and not in the morning. So hopefully they got there because I don't want to have to deal with them tomorrow if they didn't .I work by myself tomorrow and will have enough to deal with without having to deal with this person.
That's the end . Thanks for letting me vent even though it probably sounds totally stupid to some of you. Bless you if you even made it to the end. I feel alot better now.
