We have a Toyota Sienna mini van and the second row of seats are captain's chairs so we don't have a "middle" on that row. We have him behind the passenger seat right now and will probably keep him there (mostly cuz we removed the other chair so the other kids could get in and out of the van easier). I like having him on that side for a couple reasons - 1) I can reach him easier and 2) when we park on the street, he is always on the side that's next to the sidewalk. I don't have to worry about getting him out with traffic buzzing by me.

HTH!
