I would have done the exact same thing you did. As a matter of fact something of this sort happend to me with devons birthday party. My sil and my friend got into an argument and my dh wanted me not to invite my friend. I said no i am inviting everyone. If they want to come and celebrate good, but they will have to be civil to each other. Well it turns out that they have made up so everything is fine, but i was gonna stand my ground, and so should you. I can't imagine people being so childish that they would give you an ultimatum and put you and your child in the middle of their "fight". I hope everything works out for you. The people who really care and want to be there for jake will be.
