The Boston Globe ran an article about the Soap Lake giant lava lamp on 12/1/2002. John Glassgo, who has been helping Brent Blake with the lava lamp project, shared his feelings. Glassgo compares the lava lamp to the yo-yo and expressed he believes the lava lamp to be a cultural icon. My thoughts on the subject differ somewhat. By no means do I find the yo-yo or lava lamp to be an enduring alluring childish fixation carried into adulthood. Having class, does not spell yo-yo or lava lamp. If you want to put on the dog and attract tourists with bucks, drop the 60s cultural icon. The majority of Soap Lake dislikes the icon. Too corney and carney.
