Brent Blake's Giant $25 million Soap Lake Lava lamp

Soap Lake sees a shining future in giant Lava lamp

As proposed, the lamp would be 60 feet tall, with a diameter of 18 feet. The top cap would have a searchlight that would shine vertically and be visible for 50 miles.

I was thinking glamour, but this seems more like development of an icon. How do you bring trade to a small town... a giant ball of twine? We had a sailing ship. It seems to have sailed in search of bluer oceans. It would have been better to create an icon that couldn't leave.

Soap Lake sees a shining future in giant lava lamp with A SEARCH LIGHT THAT SHINES FOR A 50 MILE RADIUS? That is not "AWE" that is AWFUL. Everyone young and old is awed by the natural beauty of the stars overhead, and it is a view that is rapidly disappearing around the globe solely because of obtrusive outdoor lighting. The solutions are elementary Watson -- If illumination is truly needed to improve safety or security be sure to use only as much light as needed for the task.

I am from Tampa, Florida and currently residing in Auckland, New Zealand.
The Giant Lava Lamp proposed for Soap Lake, Washington is a great idea. That will now be that beacon that summons all things in hippie-dom. I can see Grateful Dead-heads coming by the thousands. Peace & harmony will reign in Soap Lake like never before....and hopefully locals will jump on the bandwagon and embrace the freedom loving stoners. The local infrastructure will benefit greatly from this. There'll be a Woodstock ambience. Can you smell the patchouli?
I see bumper snickers stating, "The Burg with the Herb! A Maharaji Yoga-ish type will re-locate there to seek followers. Too bad George Harrison isn't around to enjoy it. I say get the Wizard of Christchurch, NZ to move there, too. You could always get Terry Zimmer of Tampa, Florida to contact Pink Floyd and ask them to come. Also invite freedom-loving Member of Paliament, Nandor Tzandos from Wellington, NZ. Soap Lake would absolutely rock! Groovy, Man!
Peace, Love, Dove,
Steve
