Why in the world would any reasonable person in the middle of a war be considering building a $25 million dollar glass lava lamp in the center of a "ghost town"? Hope the glass is shatterproof. Lest we forget that even in America there are people without food on their plate. Maturity allows you to know that a Lava Lamp is but a trinket. Toss out the trivia and come to the party. You lava dreamers want to watch globs shift around while people are dying here or abroad? You are ignoring the signs of the times we are living. Very foolish.

With publicity flowing all over the place, the end result has brought a fatal backlash. The City is now being portrayed as a "ghost town." This quirk of fate came about due to a fatally flawed proposal that became a mass publicity scheme. The idiotic nonsense grew by leaps and bounds until it fatally portrayed Soap Lake as a ghost town, a plunge that will further sink and kill tourism, discourage new settlers and cause home owners to scurry to sell Soap Lake properties. All in all it will cause Soap Lake to quickly and quietly sink deeper into a quagmire of it's own making. Many homes are already up for sale. the sellers are discouraged, Soap Lake real estate is getting harder and harder to move. City of Soap Lake can no longer afford to endorse every ripple that froths from the blithering stream. Soap Lake Chamber of Commerce should not become the foster home for orphan projects. It is not wise to become a useful catch-all; an advocate, avenue and fuel for promoting and advertising every disaster in the making. Time and again, City and Chamber have been used selfishly and advantageously for unsensible reasons.

again you are going about this the wrong way, you are looking at this all wrong, as piece of junk that sits around in your home, this is billions of dollars of all kinds of revenue we are talking about, again you to will sit around and watch everyone else get filthy rich?, what is wrong with this little comunity, not much if you dont like to make money that feeds the poor, gives jobs to the jobless, homes to the homeless, and stimulates the economy, you cannot build an empire that has already been built, if you were to stick this in the middle of seattle, sure people would sit and gaze at this thing, but seattle is already booming, to make it short you cannot grow if you dont have room to grow, if you ask me just by the close minded response that isobviously from this town it sounds like it has more room to grow than ever predicted. i say go for it what have you got to lose????, a few narrow minded opinions!!!

QUESTION: The question posed here was "what have you got to lose." ANSWER: The answer is $25 MILLION DOLLARS, that is what you have to lose if you go for it. There is no proof that a 60 ft giant lava lamp can be built to function properly, especially outdoors, nor is there a way to prove that it will attract tourists like flies drawn to cow-pies. SEEKING A CASINO TO LOCATE AT SOAP LAKE would be a better GAMBLE and be more fitting to the history of Soap lake. In it's heyday, Soap Lake was wide-open; known for it's gambling, drinking and ladies-in-waiting. Tighter LAWS changed those most popular attractive pasttimes that brought in the cashflow from the city slickers that kept local business afloat. Soap Lake had it's high-rollers, the season closed.

Definition of narrow-minded is not liberal or broad-minded. This perfectly describes small town thinking and why the intolerant, illiberal, hidebound and bigoted miss the forest for the trees. Holding onto tunnel vision turns people into sheep that can not see beyond their own nose. Sheep follow so close that if one stops suddenly, the one behind gets a broken nose. Followers are not leaders. There is a class called the mediocrity. They tend to meander along like sheep, going along with the megalomania of self-appointed leaders. Those who like to play follow the leader would love Montana, they got a lot of sheep there. The nicest thing about opinions is that everyone can have one of their very own.
