Subject: SOAP LAKE'S FOOD BANK IS BUSIEST PLACE

SOURCE: VERHOVEK, LOS ANGELES TIMES, JANUARY 14, 2003. RE: SOAP LAKE & THE LAVA LAMP. In accord with the story released, the City of Soap Lake is practically broke, two-thirds of the people in the community are classed as low-income and the busiest spot in the center of the commercial district is the Soap Lake Food Bank. When one retired party, who was in the lineup for food, was asked about the lava lamp, he stated,"it's just so stupid." That statement was darn close to what another news story broke. They called it, " A GOOFY IDEA."
Why is the Lava Lamp Team seeking all this goofy publicity? Why Is the Giant Lava Lamp Team so nebulous when reporters ask them about the cost? Why do they behave so cagey and keep back-peddling, dropping the cost back to several million? They know very well that they went public long ago with a set cost factor of $25 MILLION DOLLARS. I think the whole story is a GIANT fluke. There has been a lot of contradiction and misinformation putforth. Even conflicting information about the City's role appears on their giant lava lamp website. "Oh what a wicked web we weave when others to decieve."
