No need to worry about anyone having to turn out the lava light, there is massive doubt that it will ever be build. If it could happen, sure as anything some non-comformist nemesis will quickly shoot out this attractive nuisance. One of the message boards online had a comment about the lava lamp attracting all the potheads to Soap Lake. Because of the lava lamp idea they got a very false impression, thinking that the Soap Lake PD would be willing to ignore illegal substance users. The psychedelic relic is not a good choice for a Soap Lake theme or attraction.

ATTENTION Lava Lovers. The Eclectics are said to be holding their Lava Lamp Love-In at Soap Lake, Washington TODAY! The Lava gathering had been scheduled for SATURDAY, JANUARY 18, 2003. Might call for reservations, we all know how utterly jam-packed it will be. Jump into your tie-dyed T-shirt, put up a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, pull on those poly bell bottoms and hurry right on down. PEACE AND LOVE TO ALL AND GOD BLESS AMERICA. I would believe the gathering to be blessed by God if they can find one smart person at that meeting that can came up with a more decent theme for Soap Lake. WANTING TO BUILD A SUB-CULTURE ICON IS NUTTIER THAN A FRUITCAKE. SCHEEZ.

I think it is still on for Saturday the 18th. You know how the rumor mill goes on and on at Soap Lake. Let us hope that more start getting involved than the same handfull that always claims to have the hip answers to Soap Lake's woes, they are poorly representing the community's and it's desires.

One news reporter showed and about thirty other people from around the area. Soap Lake has 1,700 residents. The lack of attendance, reflected the attitude of the people to be one of dis-interest, few wanting to waste time on the lava scheme and unless your into starting a collection of lava lamp posters of your own, you wouldn't shell out the three bucks they expected. One of the avid supporters of the lava lamp was overheard complaining about how long the sales meeting drug on. "I was waiting for them to quit pitching and get to passing out the free radios made in China." You could hear a few snickers surface here and there.

There was a public announcement in the Grant County Journal about Saturday's meeting. By the looks of things, they must have decided it best to call it a "tourist" meeting. It appears they have decided to play down their main issue, the team's humongous lava lamp that they wanted to hunker in the center of Main street. That was the real drive that started this whole meeting thing rolling. How offbeat is that? Could this be a masquerade party? Bet me! I think I will show up as a Lava Guru if I can find the time to set my dreadlocks and iron my hemp robe.
