Subject: I now have Dercum's Disease FROM PREDNISONE!!!!!!!

Well, I have just had it. I was dxed with Dercum's 3 weeks ago. Come to find out in researching this, it can be caused from high doses of prednisone. So, Leslie, here is yet another disease that you can add to the list of diseases prednisone can cause.

I have very painful lumps...fatty tumors coming up all over my body. Most are the size of a pinto bean, some have started roping together, like a chain. Now, some are the width of a pinto bean but about 2 to 3 inches long. No cure, you can only have the worse ones removed, liposuction them out or have a lidocaine IV for pain. I guess I'll forever be on heavy pain meds.

I AM FURIOUS! After researching this, many get it from high doses of prednisone! I just wanted to warn all of you if you start getting these painful lumps, you'll know where to look for info on it. It is a very rare disease and most doctors have never heard of it. Most people don't get it from steroids, but many do.

I just simply give up!
