Becki....I want to thank you for your answer. I can see that you can relate to exactly what I am going through. I had heard of Xolair and had asked my primary care doctor about it and he said that allergists are the ones who give the injections and I would have to see one of them. I have seen four allergists in five years and even though I do have allergies, those docs simply gave me the same kind of meds taken by asthmatics, the usual inhalers, nebulizers, theophylline, etc and nothing for allergies at all. Have done the immunizations several times and they never helped at all. I am more allergic to indooor allergens than outdoor ones, but the allergists were more concerned with "seasonal allergies" - the least of my problems. It is up for debate whether or not allergies are even the main cause of my asthma. There are six generations of asthma on my mom's side of the family. So, I hestitated to try to xolair, especially with the 8 other meds I am taking, including the ones for acid reflux. However, I am going to mention it to my doctor again...see what he says this time. I am so grateful to you for even having a suggestion....thank you! By the way, someone on this board mentioned having been homebound and "cooped up" for years for fear of catching an infection...this is also true of me. I do not even see my grandchildren because they always have colds. It is a horrible way to live and still would be a fear for me even when and if I get off the pred. I have almost died on a few occasions when I have caught a cold and then gotten bronchitis...scary! Thanks again. Sharon
