I think we are some of the lucky people here I also have 8 bands. I do not think this is very common but some orthos do use 8 instead of 4. I also got my braces top and bottom at one time. Not all people get their braces off in one year most people have braces for 2 years. I will have braces for about 27 months, my chart says that if I have extractions I will have treatment for about 30 months. Some people have braces for longer then 2 years because they need surgery or other procedured done that extend treatment.
