I recently noticed one of my formerly impacted canines had retruded somewhat. I asked my husband if he thought it had, he said no. Well, that's good.. at least it's not noticeable. I went to my ortho last week for my retainer checkup. I asked him. He got out the little measurement stick and said, yep, it had retruded a mm or so (in only a month!) I asked if he could do anything to my Hawley's to bring it back down. He said no, and "let's hope it comes down on its own." I asked what if it keeps going up, he said "let's hope it doesn't". I asked , but what if it does, what can we do? He said "braces is all I know of!" UH NO! Had them 2 and 1/2 years.. don't want them again! Especially for just 1 tooth. I kinda doubt it will keep going up, so I guess I will just deal with it if it doesn't come back down. Does this happen often with previously impacted canines??? Do they usually come back down? Any ideas (besides braces) I can suggest to my ortho if it doesn't? Maybe buttons behind that tooth and the surrounding teeth? Or would it likely go back up after that too? Help!
