I'm the authority on broken brackets! ^_^ The way it works with my ortho is when you break a bracket you call for an emergencey appointment, usually the same day or ASAP, and then my ortho charges $120 for each broken bracket, so after it gets fixed I usually pay by a check. Broken brackets are a pain in the but, especially for those of us with enamel hyperplasia(like me) or crowns(like you). I've found that sticking to soft, thin foods helped cut down on the breakages. Also, be prepared to get yelled at..my ortho always yells whenever a bracket is broken(even though it's kind of unavoidable with enamel hyperplasia, but I guess he's used to teenagers who eat candy). Good Luck! ^_^
