When I was in junior high I had problems with TMJ that didn't really get treated, since just when I was about to begin a course of treatment, the problem resolved itself. Fast forward 13 years. I got braces five months ago, and had my most recent adjustment three and a half weeks ago. Yesterday, I started to get an ache in my jaw that has not gone away, asprin be damned. there was a lot of malocclusion on that side of the mouth, and those teeth are starting to slide into place. I have no idea what is causing the jaw pain - clenching my teeth at night while trying to get used to the new "fit" of my teeth, something more problematic, a return of the TMJ - and I am wondering if anyone else has experienced anything like this with braces. I have my next adjustment in a week and a half, and can't go in any earlier, because I'll be out of town until then. Obviously, I'll mention it to the doc then, but I'm looking for some ideas or peace of mind in the meantime.
