Wow i'm shocked with the way some of you are treated by your orthos. I do consider myself lucky. My ortho gave me the total for my treatment on my consult visit and said that it will not be any more with metals or ceramics. (i have front 6 cermics on bottom - I will have the same on top in 3 months)If something were to happen to my biteplate, brackets or whatever it would be replaced without extra charge. When I go for adjustments I get treated like an adult and told what's going on with my tx and everyone is very friendly. They even have a separate room with more privacy for the adults. I even get treated before kids that have been waiting longer. (i feel a little guilty about that) :) My ortho said they like to make the adults as comfortable as possible becuz being in braces as adult is stressful enough. They also have a monthly drawing if you keep your teeth clean that the adults and kids can put their names in. You can win movie ticket, gift certificates or what not. Incentive to keep those choppers Spic and Span. Everytime I go in for an adjustment I feel even better about my decision to go for braces at 28. I wish everyone was able to have such a wonderful experience with their orthos. I've been to a dentist that had no bedside manner what so ever (1 time only) and I think that's part of their jobs. We pay big bucks just to have healthy teeth and we deserve to be treated with coutesy and respect. We pay even bigger bucks to have straight teeth!!! I hope after you talk to your ortho you feel better about things. Good Luck!!
