 Hi! I have been in braces for 7 months. I paid extra for clear braces... for the first few months I had metal ties around each bracket, I thought it was just while my teeth were too crooked to be held in place by the elastic tie. Well, last month I asked him when I would be getting the clear ties around each bracket since I paid so much extra to not have so much metal in my mouth, and he said that if I wanted clear o-rings I would have to wear my braces an extra year and keep paying the $169 per month for that year also. Now, I have two friends also in braces, their braces are metal yet they have elastic around each bracket, not metal ties, and don't have to wear their braces longer or pay extra. Is my orthodontist just crazy?!?! I thought maybe the elastic ones were harder to put on than the metal ties so they didn't want to go through the trouble. But regardless, I am paying extra to have less metal in my mouth! Any advice would be appreciated!!!!!!!!!
