Hi Bridgette,

Having wisdom teeth removed is much more difficult than a "simple extraction", I can tell you that from experience. Especially the lowers, if they are full bony impactions. (Meaning the entire tooth is imbedded in your jaw bone). This is what I had. It is imperative that you find a qualified surgeon to do this procedure. Ask how many of this type of procedure he/she has done. Get a second opinion, or even a third.

As far as your current oral surgeon, I would not trust a surgeon that breaks a tooth during extraction, and then has to dig down deep into the gum to that extreme to get it all, (still leaving pieces behind) then telling you to ignore the tooth chards. The wisdom teeth are a much more complicated procedure, and based on your experience, I would look elsewhere for an oral surgeon.

Please take this for what it is, which is me offering my humble opinions to try and help you make the best decision. I base this on having been through both simple extractions, and had all 4 wisdom teeth removed (the lowers were full horizontal bony impactions)

I truly hope this helps.

Melody
