Man, what an incredibly hostile response! I'm all for free speech, but can't we try to be a little supportive? After all, this isn't fun for any of us. I'm 42 and I'm having a rough time myself. I can't imagine how a teenager copes with this stuff. The positive messages and support on this forum have really kept me going when I thought I couldn't stand it any more (and I'm only a month into my treatment). Nobody would ever post here if we thought we were going to get insulted when we're feeling low. Please, don't be hurtful.

And listen, I'mReallyTired, braces are too a big deal!!! You don't sound like a spoiled brat to me at all. You sound like a lot of the rest of us on this forum: struggling with a really difficult choice. We all want straight teeth and a beautiful smile, but nobody in their right mind would choose to have a metalmouth if there was some other way. I admire you for going through with it even though you have a lot of concerns--we all do! I don't know if I could have gone through with it when I was a teenager, what with all the concerns about self-image and all. I thank god I'm an adult now and all that stuff is behind me (well, for the most part!). I work with kids and I have a whole new respect for the ones who are doing this at such a young age. You are very brave and you're doing the right thing. You hang in ther!. We're all behind you (except obviously chuck, but feel free to ignore him).
