Are we then totally misguided by the (western) media? I do see a lot of interviews with Russians who say: We like Putin because he brought stability. They consider the Yeltsin years as terrible. That does not mean Putin is not dangerous. Hitler also brought more prosperity, it's no use to deny that.

There is so much distrust in Russia. Now people even think the government was behind the Moscow theatre drama. You can never exclude anything but experience tells such accusations are seldom true. After the bomb attack in Spain many people thought the Spanish government was behind that attack and many people still think the American government was behind the 11 September attack. History learns such complicated conspiracies seldom happen. Even Hitler or Stalin didn�t order such kind of plots.
