Both of these dogs seemed to have fairly good grips otherwise and both were real drivey and seemed to have no courage issues, but just couldn't stay on with the initial attemp. Both came right back and bit hard. The Arkansas dog seemed to have an issue staying on because of his auto out - if the decoy stopped for a split second, he would start into a b&h and then the second the decoy restarted a move, he was right back on him, so that may have added to the loss of grip, but Eik didn't do any of that. I just wondered because several people seemed to think it was the foot thing and they did and I have seen before, Dobermans sort of 'reach out' as they launch for the long bite. Maybe it is an early training thing too. Watching Doberman puppies being trained it seems everyone wants to put the prey on the ground and they just start using their feet like Rotties tend to do also. I agree though, I don't see trying to 'correct' them from it - just didn't know if there were some techniques anyone has used to either not start it, to discourage it or to lessen it.
