But don't you think it was important for Batman to have personal contact with Gordon to build his trust? Sometimes actions speak louder than words but, in Batman's case, he is seen as a guy running over cop cars with his tank and doesn't exactly come off as hero. He looks like a nut. He needs to have that contact to prove that everything he is doing is for the sake of the city and its people.

As far as his character being a "creature of heights", should everyone that Aquaman corresponds with be underwater? I see where you are going but I just don't think it's necessary, personally.

Since Freeman ended up at the head of the board of directors at the end of the film it would seem that they could build more storylines around him now then they could as the weapons builder. Caine's character is built-in.

I didn't think Katie was terrible. I just think that one thing the Batman films have suffered from is the lack of an interesting female lead (save for Catwoman). Katie's character is no different. She wasn't interesting. If anything she was the straight character who helped keep Wayne in line and keep him from going off the edge. That was a vital role in the film and I think she did it fine. Otherwise, it was a boring character.

I'm happy that they ignored the previous four films. They needed to if this franchise is going to be reinvigorated. As for Holmes dying, since they aren't bringing her back for the sequel I'm interested to see what they do with her character. Killing her off camera could be what fuels the fired in the fight against the Joker.
