Greg, farmers are wonderful people; I have family that are farmers. However...

What percentage of Canadians are farmers, and what percentage of Canadians are city dwellers? Where have people been migrating to for the past, oh, half-century or so? Regular Canadians trust their lives, their well-being, and their financial resources to Prosecutors and Lawyers, Investment and Banking Executives and yes, even to people whose life's work is dedicated to the public's interest through a career in politics, everyday, all the time.

What is a regular Canadian anyway? Is a lawyer not a regular Canadian? Is a small-businessman or woman or a banker not a regular Canadian? I'm a post-secondary educated Canadian; am I not a regular Canadian?

If we follow your point that this is about winning elections (which it is not all about; all is a very restrictive statement), then we should look at who regularly wins elections. Farmers? Sometimes. Lawyers? Very regularly. Busness people? Again, regularly. That's something that perhaps you should think about.
