Agreed I think we need both standard stations as well as beautiful music stations all over the country.I'm able to get both formats on dishnetwork but it isn't the same as having it on the dial. There is a standards format on the am dial were I live but they are becoming more of an oldies station now. They still play Nat King Cole,Tony Bennett,Sinatra and others but they are slipping more duwop in.I think there should be two different fm stations. One that plays beautiful by artist like Percy Faith,Mantovani,Nick Ingman,Johnny Douglas etc and a Standard Format which plays Bennett,Sinatra,Cole,Jack Jones and others.I don't like hearing them mixed togeather.I'd rather they be seperate.Standard stations are quickly going the way of beautiful music except on satellite. There is still a few markets for standards across the country on the dial mostley on AM and an occasional FM station. You mentioned big band Wjax at jones.edu plays all big band. There sister station Wktz at jones.edu plays beautiful music.I'm only 37 but I grew up listening to both these types of music beautiful and standards and still listen to these types.
