I loved the article on remodeling disasters. I've had a few of my own over the years so I got a good chuckle.
You have to remember that you are talking to the woman who took 4 months to have her wedding photos developed, and who still hasn't taken in last Christmas's film. One of these days I'll take photos of my projects for Quick Decor.....promise.
The pillars on the front porch were done by the previous owners with a granite look paint. It looked great until the weather got cold. Then the paint started peeling off in huge chunks. I found the granite paint in the garage, and in bold letters across the back it said FOR INDOOR USE ONLY. I decided to use the pressure washer to strip the paint and it took off about 97%. I got them repainted, and they look nice again.
We've been spending the past month or so gardening. Chris is an avid gardener, and I'm trying to learn despite the fact that any flower I touch seems to die. Surprisingly, all were doing well until yesterdays storm.
I've found an artist whose work I really love. The majority of her work is pewter and aluminum casting. I'm replacing the light switch plates in the living room, family room, kitchen, and front hall with her creations. They are whimsical and fun and look gorgeous. (Yeah, I'll have to take of picture of those, too).
The next big project is removing the wallpaper from the hallway, entryway, dining room, and kitchen. After that, I'll paint it all. My son said he'd help strip the wallpaper, so we'll start on that after school gets out.
