Fair point about going to see out-of -town bands, BUT, generally speaking, most of the out-of-town bands that play I don't actually like or want to see. So I'd rather (for example) save the ticket and petrol money from seeing I dunno, the 4ft Fingers and oh I dunno, some other band I don't want to see, and go see someone I really want to see in Leeds or Sheffield. Like we've just been to see From Autumn to Ashes, then the week after next there's Waking Kills the Dream and Every Time I Die, all of whom I like an awful lot. FATA was in Manchester and the other two are in Bradford and Leeds respectively, which is obviously quite a trip just for bands! Obviously if these bands played in Hull (and it could almost have happened with Waking Kills the Dream...) I'd go see them there, but I'm not gonna miss them just to support Hull. If you see what I mean.

If anyone knows of a cheap way to get to New York at the start of July, let me know, 'cos then I can completely fuck the UK scene and go to the Hellfest! Why don't we have line ups like this here?
