Subject: Just found this site...A hundred questions

Hi folks!

I just found this site and I am VERY excited, not only that it turns out there are other Canadians out there who know the difference between BBQ and grilling, but that we actually have a competition circuit! This excites me to no end, and I have several questions about the competitions, I hope you will bear with me.

I have always wanted to try a competition, but I have never had the equipment needed to compete in the larger events I have seen, either because they were whole hog only or they required the contestant to serve the public in large amounts. Is this the case with these events or could a team compete with just a couple of bullet smokers in a shoulder or ribs category?

What is the average entry fee for an Ontario event?

Is a contestant required to erect some sort of serving/dining are within their designated area?

Do contestants normally stay overnight on site?

Do these events span an entire weekend? If so, what do contestants do during the non-cooking/judging times?

Thank you for bing patient with my questions and I look forward to communicating with all of you. BBQ is one of my true passions, and it thrills me to no end to have local people to share that passion with.
