My daughter is a junior at a university in Texas. She has struggled and fought for everything that she has ever gotten. She was diagnosed with mathematical dyslexia when a senior in high school. I am a science educator myself. She is a wonderful person (not because she is mine)... Her major is in Social Work and she will add greatly to society in her area of interest-- Child Protective Services. She had to take "pre-college math" four times before she passed it and able to go on to College Algebra. She has now failed the College Algebra 2 times...She does well on other classes, making Bs and Cs unless the math gets the upper hand on her. We are concerned about her financial aid and having to take math again and again. With her degree plan she has been told that she will have to have this College Algebra class that she has now failed twice and a statistics class (which SHE believes she will have few problems). I wouldn't even be bothering with this, but she is a good girl--she doesn't party and studies hours every night. She works a few hours a week. This university has given her a tutor and is in the Student Disabilities department at the college. Can more be done? Please help...Her mom...
