The Dibbuns were at it again.
The one Dibbun contest all Abbeydwellers feared.
It was...
The Belch-Off!
Soilrose and Treehop had placed first. They had joined forces with Ffrikkle, making an unstoppable force. The Cavern Hole still echoed Ffrikkle's last belch as they collected their winnings from the other Dibbuns. Small bags of candied chestnuts, crystallized fruit and other treats were placed at the Dibbuns' footpaws.
"Hurr, zurr Ffrikkle made 'ee loudest belcher, 'e shood get 'ee biggest share, burr aye, yeszurr 'e shood!"
"Nonono! Mista Treehop's biggest belch lasted much longa den mine, yess it did, he gets the bigga share!"
"Hurr, you'm roight there, Ffrikkle, 'e did belcher longer!"
So, Treehop got the biggest share. They didn't know it, but their biggest problem had just arrived in the form of a wet, balled up mousemaid.

Soilrose and Treehop were lounging under an apple tree, munching on some of their crystallized fruit. They had strung hammocks up, and Treehop was dozing. Soilrose saw somebeast approaching.
"Luukit, Treehop! Summbeast iz a-cummen this way!"
Treehop awoke with a startle. The creature Soilrose had seen approaching flounced up to them.
"Um...hello. Mum Mellus told me to come and get you two for tea. You'd better hurry before all the scones are gone." She talked very proper and clear. She took a moment to flounce her frilly pink skirt and puff her matching bows.
"My name is Violetta, and I just arrived yesterday. Mum Mellus said you all better be nice to me, otherwise you will face the consequences. Good day, see you at Tea!"
Violetta flounced off.
"Burrhurr, she'm vurry prissy!"
"Muvver Mellus get's madda if any Dibbun calls her Mum Mellus! Miz Violetta is gonna be in trooouuuble if Muvver Mellus catches her!"
"Dat means only one thing, Treehoppa. She'm Ma Mellus' pet Dibbun!"

At Tea, Violetta performed a song and dance in her prissy voice, stopping to puff and preen and flounce every few minutes. When she stopped, applause expoded through the Abbeydwellers. Violetta began to tear up because of happiness.
"Oh, thank you, thank you all! I hope I can perform for you again soon! Oh thank you!" She blew kisses and curtsied exccesively.
"Moi, moi, moi, she'm cocky!"
"Verry prissy an' self-luvvin too!"
