Just the rugged Northeast Mountains is a pineforest.In it are squirrel dreys and their warriors called Lightnings who fight the vermin who constantly try to enslave and kill them.Each drey usually has a groop of warriors with lightning-bolt birthmarks on their foreheads.Bushytail who back then was Black Lightning was one of them. A reckless ten season-old warriormaid with an adventurous spirit she was a Rainbow Lightning junior leader.Along with her two best friends who were also junior leaders she traveled to the Highlands with her instructors and elders to learn the warriors trade.Black Lightning and her two best friends Blue Lightning and White Lightning trained hard.They usually only wore the color they were named for and everything they owned had that color scheme for that was the way it was with the Rainbow-Lightnings.Every morning they rose long before dawn and tumbled from their hammocks slung in the trees to begin their day.Then they would put on heavy packs full of rocks and swing swiftly through the trees until their instructors, leaders, and elders:Indigo,Maroon,and Teal Lightning would tell them to stop.Then they would fence with claymoors while wearing heavy armor against each other and Indigo,Maroon, and Teal Lightning.Then they would practice with their dirks and after that with their slings.When they were done with all that the sun would have fully risen so they would be given permission to drink hot tea or cocoa and eat muffins or pancakes for breakfeast after they cooked them.
Their were other junior and senior Lightnings too.They all did the same things except the senior leaders trained the junior leaders to become leaders themselves.
After breakfeast they would gather healing herbs and learn about them.Then they would practice stealth and tracking.Then they would practice reading maps.After that it would be lunch time.They usually would stick to a light lunch consisting only of soup and/or salad.
After lunch they would do usual studies that most creatures learn.Math,History, Writing, and Geography.They also would learn:sewing,manners, and honor.
What Black Lightning didn't know at the time though was that her non-Lightning twin brothers would soon proove to be her worst enemies.
