Title: For Love
Summary: Ah, the classic tale. Chivalry, romance, honor, courage, fearless warriors…a young warrior finds his heart falling for a pretty maid, only to find it dashed against the rocks along with her body…very sad, but very good for me to take advantage.
Writing:
Ah, for love!
My dear, why did you come?
I would have so much preferred to die in your place.
Rose, sweet Rose!
When you lose something dear,
When all falls away,
How do you recover?
How do you go on fighting for your beliefs?
When the one who gave you courage
Has fallen at your very feet,
When the one who made you stronger
Has fallen in defeat,
Somehow you have to go on;
Continue, not give up.
Perhaps just her memory
Will be enough;
But maybe not
Perhaps I’ll just give up.
Perhaps just give in and grieve.
Still, somehow, her spirit speaks,
Reminding me of the duty I owe
To good beasts everywhere,
To those who fight
As I once did for what I…love.
Yes, love, that perilous beast!
A blooming Rose with hidden thorns!
I loved her; she died.
Is this the curse that falls upon all who love me?
‘Go on’, she whispers,
‘Don’t let defeat overcome you.
For me, for them, for your own sake
Don’t give up, give in, give away your life.’
For you, my love.
I fight, I continue.
I’ll destroy you, evil vermin!
Monster of evil!
You slew her--I’ll slay you.
Isn’t that just the way of the world?
A moment of silence,
Enemy at my feet.
I stand there, eyes blank.
Rose, for you.
One stroke, that’s all it takes..
Just…one…stroke…
A fading sunrise;
Victory in reality, defeat in my heart.
My love, I defended them:
What now do I live for?
‘Go now, to the horizon, Martin.
Remember me, and, in that memory,
Go to the south and free those who’re lost.
Remember, my love…’
Very well, Rose. I go.
