We are separate because we are created in God's image. We have the capability to believe in our creator. I don't recall Genesis teaching that our physical composition is different from animals. And as far as bone structure and genetics go, they only support that we were intelligently designed.

The most popular scientific view may reject the literal account of Genesis, but that doesn't make it correct.
You have to understand that there are many people who will stop at nothing to keep God out of their lives. They want to live by their own standards, and in the end, be accountable to no one. Instead of allowing their hearts to open toward the word of God, they prematurely, flat-out reject it as myth. Then they come up with ignorant excuses to justify their choice. "The bible is just another book"... "It's just one of many religions"... "I was taught evolution in school, so evolution must be true"... etc. Instead of confronting their excuses and seeking the truth about them, they continue to put their faith in every word they hear that rejects God... without seeking the truth about them.
Wanting not to be accountable to a supreme authority is a very prominent part of human nature which Satan apparently uses extensively. I believe that this is why getting into heaven has been compared a camel going through the eye of a needle... because it involves one doing away with enough selfish pride to put faith in a physically-invisible deity, profess that faith in front of others, and give up a former life of flagrant sin.
Professing faith in front of others is not always easy. Remember that Peter, the same person who became the foundation of the Church, denied he knew Jesus three times.
People have all kinds of excuses for rejecting God and will stop at nothing to keep on rejecting him. Sometimes that involves them shutting their eyes, clasping their hands over their ears, and listening to nothing creationism has to say which refutes evolution to the point of blowing it clear out of the water.
So people want physical proof of a god in order for them to believe in it? That does very little, if anything, spiritually! The people being led out of Egypt saw some absolutely spectacular miracles, from the parting of the sea, to the rock split to gush forth water, to manna raining down from the sky, etc. Yet many of them still rejected God and worshipped a graven image. A sign miracle may help lead someone to faith, but having faith comes only from believing. It means to become like a child and put your trust in something that does not appeal to any of your five, physical senses.
To receive eternal life free of pain and suffering, you must come to Jesus by faith. You must become a believer. That is the only way. The ONLY way. Two years ago, I asked Jesus to come into my heart. At that instant, I received the Holy Spirit and was saved, and I now see the world and life in a way that I never did before. I cannot believe how constrictive I was to my intelligence when I believed in evolution.
This is a gift offered to you by a loving creator. If you accept it, you can be made pure and receive all the riches of heaven. If you reject it, you will suffer infinite punishment for your sins by an infintely holy God.
I am blessed to be one who was given time to repent of my sins and come to faith. Had I died prior two years ago, I would be in hell for rejecting God through willful ignorance. I am now trying to share my testimony with others so that they, too, may be saved.
