| Subject: Oldie But Goodie: 1990 Article About WP's Concert Tour | |
Author: Juli [Edit] |
Date Posted: 15:59:31 10/07/08 Tue While looking for more information about their concert next month, I found this article from Entertainment Weekly; it's from 1990 and it was about them being the opening act for Richard Marx back in the summer of that year. One way to get a sense of the buzz surrounding Wilson Phillips' current summer concert tour is by reading the ''love bytes'' that mysteriously appear each night on the band's dressing-room door: the crowd loves you blazed the message on July 6, their opening night in Concord, Calif. A couple of shows later, in Alabama, the notice read ladies of the night. The headline for a Saturday night concert in Lake Placid, N.Y., was only slightly more discreet. Scrawled in black ink across the backstage door of the Olympic Auditorium, it screamed wilson phillips-three hot babes! What's the meaning of these strange, emphatic messages? ''I want to give the girls a love of the road,'' says production manager Eric Williams, who grudgingly concedes to being the anonymous author in his self-appointed role as the band's tour cheerleader. In addition to his nightly banners, Williams pumps up the summer jam by attaching upbeat instructions to the band's set lists, including stage directions (''Work the crowd!'' ''Reach out to the audience!'') and peppy greetings for the local crowds (''Alabama, you guys look great!'' ''Let's get impulsive, New Jersey!''). ''I want to get the girls juiced up,'' he says. If the band needs pumping up, the crowds don't seem to. Chynna Phillips, 22, Carnie Wilson, 22, and Wendy Wilson, 20, who are currently opening a 35- city tour for Richard Marx, are this summer's band to catch. Despite mixed reviews-some critics dismissed Wilson Phillips' highly produced, commercial sound as sheer pop gloss-their first album, Wilson Phillips, has sold almost 2 million copies since its release in March. Their first single, ''Hold On,'' went to No. 1 in early July. A second track, ''Release Me,'' was at No. 6 on the Billboard chart last week and climbing. It's a long one so you can read the rest of it here at http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,318052,00.html [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Author: Juli [Edit] |
Date Posted: 16:27:56 10/03/08 Fri I found this when looking for any latest news on her: WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 10 Montecito, the lush, obscenely wealthly Santa Barbara enclave is a great little getaway, especially if you go off season as to avoid the onslaught of Hollywood- from Oprah to Cameron Diaz. (I just shuddered.) Ordering a late breakfast at Xanadu when I saw that 2 feet away, WILLIAM BALDWIN and wife CHYNNA PHILLIPS are at a table waiting for their grub. Did not even recognise her. She looked beat- a skeletor-long raggedy hair, in a floor length white totally weird Hare Krishna getup. Not until Billy opened his sexy mouth to call her back inside to eat did I inwardly sigh upon hearing that famous Baldwin voice. Oh that dulcet, mellifluous voice! He looks good. My husband said "Has he done anything since Backdraft? ... Chynna was screeching into her cell; so obnoxious, looking for attention of which she got none, and finally for those of us eating outside, she succumbed to that Baldwin Brother siren-call and went back to her table. Yes sir, that is one good looking guy with a voice that makes my knees buckle. Yum Yum Yummy. Not the omelet, the Baldwin. | Subject: Brian Wilson Article - Short Carnie/Wendy Mention
Author: Juli [Edit] |
Date Posted: 19:41:22 08/19/08 Tue I saw this article on Yahoo about Brian Wilson and his new solo album and, of course, I clicked on it to see if Carnie and Wendy are mentioned. They were mentioned, but not in a way that I expected: Later on, when Ledbetter comes home with their small son Dylan — floppy-haired, barefoot and wearing a Hawaiian shirt — Wilson brightens. He's quieter when it comes to daughters Wendy and Carnie, who both live less than 10 miles away. "I don't talk to them very much. I used to. I recorded with them at one time, but I don't talk to them a lot," he says, explaining that the women are "really busy." I have to say that I was a little sad after reading that, especially with their history. I can totally understand the whole "busy lives" thing, but people with busy lives still find the time to see loved ones as often as possible(especially if they live close by); it sounds to me like Carnie and Wendy have chosen to pretty much keep their distance. :( If you want, you can read the entire article at http://news.yahoo.com/story//ap/20080819/ap_en_mu/music_brian_wilson_3 [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |
| Subject: New Carnie Interview - Weight Loss Rebound | |
Author: Juli [Edit] |
Date Posted: 17:28:58 08/15/08 Fri Carnie Wilson has lost nearly 40 pounds since she started a strict diet and exercise program this spring, after she topped out at 208 pounds. The 5-foot-3 singer is now 20 pounds away from her weight-loss goal. Carnie is determined to reach 150 pounds by October and then start trying to have a second child with husband Rob Bonfiglio. OK! caught up with Carnie, 40, at Will Rogers State Beach in Santa Monica, Calif., where she talked about her weight-loss journey and those baby plans. Tell us about your new clothing line for plus-sized women. It’s probably the most exciting thing I’m ever going to be involved in. I know what it’s like to be all sizes, and I have some really great things up my sleeve — no pun intended! What are your baby plans? We’re going to start trying in October. I’m going to mount my husband! [laughs] I have friends who are pregnant*, and I want to be pregnant so badly. Two more months to go — it can’t come soon enough. We want a baby in my tummy right away. How will that affect your weight loss? My ob-gyn said when you’re eating this way, you’ll have minimal weight gain. It was very difficult having Lola. I just kept gaining. I’m going to feel better in my next pregnancy. I have this weird feeling I’m going to have twins. My sister just had twins. My grandmother was a twin. It’s a serious possibility!** Full article and a link that leads to pictures at http://www.okmagazine.com/news/view/8440 *My first thought when I read this was "Is Chynna one of those friends that's pregnant?" **With the way the twin boom in Hollywood is going, I will not be suprised if she does end up with twins. | Subject: Review of Nashville, TN Christmas Concert
Author: Craig [Edit] |
Date Posted: 13:23:03 01/20/08 Sun Along with Sandi, I too apologize that it has taken this long to post my review of the concert. Between the holiday rush and new year beginning I've been too busy and caught up to get time set aside for any leisure things. Anyway, that said....here is my review, or experience I should say. First I should mention that I have to thank my friend Bill Pardue who just started wilsonphillipsforum.com for sending me a message through myspace to inform me he was going to the Nashville show and inviting me to join him. I knew of the show but didn't think about travelling the distance alone and spending the $ to go until he contacted me and told me he was going and that I just had to go! Bill and I had met Carnie and Wendy together in 1999 at Stone Mountain, GA when they were performing as part of BBF&F. We had a blast then and knew it'd be insane to pass up another opportunity like this together. So, last minute I booked my tickets for the VIP option and got my flight/hotel set up. I flew into Nashville the day of the concert and we arrived fairly early to the venue in order to see what kind of set up we would have and where our seats would be. To my surprise there was no assigned seating so we took the closest to the stage we could get. The table next to us was reserved for Carnie & Wendy's mother and her guests but later there placecards were moved to a different table. The show started around 8pm and they opened with "Monday Without You" which sounded great. I was so happy they had a full band and they sounded great! Rob played on guitar which I was glad to see since he really is a talented guitarist and does well on vocals of course also. Kiki Ebson does a great harmony vocal for the Chynna parts of the WP songs and everyone seemed to be equally impressed. There was great applause on the 2nd song, "You're in Love" and the crowd responded well and loudly. I normally never shout out in excitement at concerts much but couldn't hold back after every song and performance. The set list to follow was really impressive and from what I can remember included the following(not in order) Monday Without You You're in Love California Silver Bells Blue Christmas Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree You Won't See Me Cry Release Me Impulsive Hold On Hey Santa! (their mom Marilyn joined them onstage!) Little Drummer Boy (awesome live version! of the same arrangement from "Hey Santa!" album) Warm Lovin' Christmastime God Only Knows ABBA-song title escapes me....Sandi posted the name though on her review.... I Hate Your Face (floored to hear them perform this but was so glad since this song rocks and they did awesome live) I can't believe myself but I feel like I'm forgetting some of the set list which I wish I would've written down the night of the show so I could have it. After the show we were quickly lined up to go into the VIP area to meet them. There were some VIP ticket holders who got the chance to stay in the VIP room and linger with them and their families which I'm assuming were mostly friends or relatives....? However the rest of us were worked into a very formatted process of lining up until we were next in line to go up to the table where they were standing for photos and autographs. I was disappointed it was so formatted because there were a lot of us to get through so I knew one on one time was going to be limited. Bill went ahead of me and had a good few minutes with them so I was hoping for the same. I brought along an 8 x 10 photo of me with them from when we met in 1999 and showed that to them first and Carnie knew immediately it was from Stone Mountain which was cool. I also showed her a photo of the concert in Pennsylvania I attended which is the show she met Rob at. I had them autograph various things from my photo with them in 1999 to WP album covers and a promo b & w photo for "The Wilsons." I also had a print out of Wendy's photo from her dance music page and had her sign that. She seemed surprised I had those tracks and I of course let her know how cool I thought they were. She said they(she and her husband Dan) have gotten some good feedback and had interest in them as well. There were so many things I wanted to say or ask but I had a huge line of people waiting for me to get done. There was a lot of pressure to hurry through but overall I probably had 5-6 minutes with them. Carnie & Wendy didn't mind and seemed to really appreciate us for being such big fans which is a great feeling. Carnie even mentioned how she saw us getting into it during the show and responding with excitement during the concert. I had the chance to thank Carnie also for talking to my best friend Karen for support who had gastric bypass surgery in 2000. She said she remembered that and asked how she was doing which I thought was really nice. I couldn't stop thinking of things I wanted to say or ask but the one thing I had planned on asking them escaped my mind the entire time! Yep, the one question...."What's going on with Wilson Phillips"....or Chynna for that matter. It's strange because once I was up there and talking with them I only cared about discussing the show, and the previous time we met, etc... Things that were directly just the two of them. I regret that I didn't ask about WP but it is what it is. I made sure I mentioned how happy I was they performed "I Hate Your Face" and Carnie quickly responded "I love that f**king song!" My thoughts exactly were repeated back. :) So, after getting out as much as I could, it was time for the guy to snap our picture with my camera and move along. I did meet two people in line behind me that were fans as well, originally Beach Boys fans yet also supported Carnie & Wendy and enjoyed their music. They were a very nice couple and they didn't have a camera with them so I let them use mine for their picture and later e-mailed it to them. It's always cool to meet other fans and hear their common interest. In the room, Rob was there with Lola and Marilyn with her husband I'm assuming and other guests that were able to stay in the room. Lola looked like a little Carnie running around singing and being cute and outgoing. She's a star in the making and gets it honest! haha So, the evening was incredible and I'm so glad I bit the bullet and decided to go on such a whim. I know that in the future any show I can get to, I will most definitely do what I have to in order to attend. They are such great women and talents. The highlight of my year, or next several, for sure! To see my pics from the show, go to myspace.com/phairplae Thanks for reading and sorry it's so long! Craig [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Author: Juli [Edit] |
Date Posted: 16:45:56 06/30/08 Mon Includes a picture of Carnie with reddish brown hair; I wonder how long she'll keep that color. I'm just going to post parts of the article instead of the whole thing. Actors deal with pigs, goats, mules for TV show By Terry Morrow (Contact) Wednesday, June 25, 2008 NEWPORT, Tenn. - Carnie Wilson can handle being a fish out of water around here. A goat in the kitchen? That's a different matter altogether. "I went to go get my apron in the kitchen, and there was a massive goat there," Wilson recalled during an exclusive interview Tuesday afternoon with the News Sentinel. Her reaction? "I screamed," the singer said. Her cry brought actress Maureen McCormick, who played Marcia Brady on TV's "The Brady Bunch," and they used a pickle to try to shoo the beast out of the door. Such wrangling is just another day on the set of the CMT comedy "Outsider's Inn," due to premiere Aug. 15. The eight-episode comedy series documents McCormick's attempt to run an inn with the help of Wilson and singer Bobby Brown. Wilson acts as the chef, and Brown is the entertainment coordinator. * Wilson has been spotted shopping at the Newport Food City. As a celebrity whose dieting has made headlines, Wilson has found ways to cook Southern without giving into temptation. She's whipping up desserts, meatloaf and mashed potatoes for guests nightly. "I may taste what I (cook)," Wilson said, "but I never swallow it. I always spit it out." [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

| Subject: More Info On Carnie's Latest Reality Show Project | |
Author: Juli [Edit] |
Date Posted: 18:21:38 06/07/08 Sat I decided to see if there was any news on Carnie's new reality show and I found a small article about it. Notorious rapper Bobby Brown will be spending his summer in sometimes-scandalous Cocke County, Tenn., to shoot a new CMT reality show. Production begins June 9 in Cocke County for a series starring Brown with "Gone Country" co-stars Carnie Wilson and Maureen McCormick. The series will be a loosely scripted program revolving around celebrities running a country bed and breakfast, according to a story in the Newport Plain Talk. This seems to be the same series McCormick spilled to knoxnews.com two months ago during a chat at Dollywood's grand opening. The Cocke County newspaper says the production will be done at Christopher's Place, a popular destination outside of Newport. The Cocke County newspaper, which did not name the celebrities involved in the production, said the series will start airing nationally in August. A spokesperson for CMT could not comment on the reports. CMT plans to make an announcement on the production near June 9, the spokesperson says. Earlier this year, CMT had Brown, Wilson and McCormick competing with other nontraditional country singers on "Gone Country." The series turned out to be one of CMT's most popular original series ever. Brown's most recent past includes his tabloid-filled marriage to singer Whitney Houston. His hits include the early hip-hop tune "My Prerogative." McCormick is best known for her role as Marcia Brady on "The Brady Bunch." As an adult, she was also part of the "Celebrity Fit Club" cast on Vh1. Wilson was part of the vocal trio Wilson Phillips and is the daughter of Beach Boy Brian Wilson. Date Posted: 13:25:16 04/04/08 Fri Ever since I started seeing press all over the place about the reunion of New Kids On The Block, I've been thinking about WP's reunion from four years ago and wondered if California would have been more successful (and if they would still be together now) if their comeback was as widely publicized as the NKOTB reunion seems to be. It also makes me wonder why WP's reunion didn't get the major press that the NKOTB reunion is getting; it seems like you can't go anywhere without hearing about NKOTB and that wasn't the case with WP four years ago. Thoughts? [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Date Posted: 09:47:04 03/27/08 Thu I seen Carnie on the news this morning and I just wanted to say that beauty comes from the inside to out, and I must say she is such a beautiful person. People are so judgmental about people size. I am only 125 pounds and some of my closest friends are 200 or better and they have the biggest hearts than anyone I know. So maybe that's why there are the size there are is because they have to carry those big hearts around. Carnie you are such a beautiful person inside and out and I watched you for years when you had your talk show and you were also blessed with a beautiful voice, something that people like us only dream we could be. Never feel you have to defend yourself in the public because the man upstairs is the only one that really matters. God Bless! [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Date Posted: 09:33:32 03/04/08 Tue This Friday is the hour long Gone Country finale! I actually have been watching this show and I can honestly say that it is terrible. There is hardly anything to with music on this show. The finale is going to be all of the stars with the songs they have written performed in front of an audience. I hope Carnie wins. One thing I know about country music is that if the song isn't honky tonk ridiculous or vocal acrobatics aren't involved they aren't interested. So we shall see. [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Others to appear include ANT, one of the Pussycat Dolls and actor C. Thomas Howell. [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

| Subject: Michelle Phillips Vanity Fair Article | |
Author: Juli [Edit] |
Date Posted: 17:48:38 03/01/08 Sat While looking for some new Chynna stuff regarding her being a born again Christian, I found this article in Vanity Fair about Michelle Phillips that has a few Chynna mentions. "My mom always seemed to have a relationship going on, but she was never a chameleon, never an extension of her boyfriends—she never compromised herself,” says Chynna Phillips Baldwin, sitting at a café near the Westchester County, New York, home where she lived with Billy (whom she’s been with for 16 years), their daughters Brooke (known as Chay Chay) and Jameson, and their son, Vance, before they moved to California for his role in TV’s Dirty Sexy Money. “Growing up, I always saw her as Wonder Woman, as a tough cookie. I had respect for her—and fear! She was very passionate and emotional, and I didn’t want to rock the boat.” Chynna’s early childhood was “hard,” she admits with a sigh, “because I didn’t have strong, positive connections with either of my parents.” Her absent father (whom she idolized) was largely on drugs and alcohol, and, though mother and daughter loved each other, Chynna feels she didn’t get all the one-on-one attention she wanted. As a result, she says, “being a mom is challenging for me—my perspective is warped. How much time is enough to spend with your kids? How much is too little? Do they feel intimate with me, and I with them? Are my feelings real?” In the 90s, Chynna was the most glamorous member of Wilson Phillips, the second-generation-rock-royalty group (Brian Wilson’s daughters Carnie and Wendy were her group-mates); they had four hit songs. But she left the family business for a sensibility foreign to her parents: she’s a fervent born-again Christian. She was baptized in brother-in-law Stephen Baldwin’s bathtub, and she’d love to share “the power of God” with Michelle. “When Mom says she’s coming to town, I say, ‘I’m filling the bathtub.’ We have a good giggle over that.” The entire article is at http://www.vanityfair.com/culture/features/2007/12/phillips200712?currentPage=1 [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Date Posted: 22:59:18 02/26/08 Tue I thought the show was great! Their home is very nice and their kids aren't out of control but I think Jo helped them adapt a better system of discipline for certain things. I thought it was great how receptive to everything Wendy & Dan were since you could see how they genuinely wanted to get a better grasp on handling such a big household. I really commend Wendy for stepping outside her comfort zone with the kids and also in talking about her childhood with Brian Wilson as a father. I'm glad the editing didn't do anything to portray the family in a weird way....they came off as they are, a very well rounded family that just needed some guidance. Everyone I know that watched said they thought it was a really interesting show as well. [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

| Subject: Wendy's Supernanny Episode Details | |
Author: Juli [Edit] |
Date Posted: 17:43:10 01/29/08 Tue I decided to look up more details about Wendy's Supernanny appearance and found a site that has the press release about the episode (spoiler spaces just in case you want to wait until the episode airs): * * * * * * * Supernanny Helps Her First Celebrity Family When Wendy Wilson Of Wilson/Phillips Reaches Out For Help In Managing Her Four Boys -- Including Newborn Twins, Jo's Youngest-Ever Charges -- On ABC's "Supernnany" Monday, January 28, 2008 -- "Wilson-Knutson Family" - Pop star Wendy Wilson and her husband, Dan Knutson, make history as the first celebrity parents to enlist Supernanny's help. Wendy, who rose to fame as part of the multi-platinum trio Wilson Phillips, is now a stay-at-home mom working on being the best mother possible after having four sons in five years. As the daughter of Beach Boys' Brian Wilson, she was raised in a household where the children had few boundaries, and is often a pushover with her rambunctious toddlers, Leo, 4 and Beau, 3. Husband Dan, a former rock singer, was raised just the opposite way, with clear-cut rules and a strict schedule. Having had twins Willem and Jesse just six weeks prior to filming, Wendy and Dan are exhausted, overextended, and realize that their current parenting style won't work. Enter Supernanny Jo Frost, who will show as much candor and tough love to this celebrity family as she does to her non-celebrity families. But can she help Wendy and Dan find the harmony within their home? Find out on "Supernanny," WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 20 (9:00-10:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network. Wendy is considering touring anew with her sister, Carnie Wilson, who stops by to rehearse with her during the episode. But before the tour begins, Wendy and Dan need to find a way to manage the chaos of their family life. They aren't sure how to navigate play dates and restaurant excursions with four children in tow, for starters. Leo and Beau's bedtime "routine" stretches for hours, and the boys rarely sleep in their own beds all night, preferring Mom and Dad's. Now that the parents are feeding newborns too, the adults' sleep is interrupted all night long. In addition, Beau's potty-training skills have vanished since the birth of the twins, and he's still attached to his pacifier, something Jo thinks he needs to relinquish to the "Paci-Fairy," which she explains in full detail. http://www.allamericanpatriots.com/48741552_supernanny-helps-her-first-celebrity-family-feb-20 [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

| Subject: review of Wilsons' concert | |
Author: Sandi M [Edit] |
Date Posted: 13:00:57 01/10/08 Thu Hi all, Sorry it's taken so long to post this review. I've either been sick or unbelievably busy since the concert and barely had time to put this on my myspace page. If you want to see the whole blog and my one picture - go to http://www.myspace.com/sandifromdouglasville. Anyway, here's my review: The concert started around 8:00 and we had front row seats. It was amazing. They did songs from the Wilson Phillips days (Hold On, Release Me, You're in Love, Impulsive and You Won't See Me Cry) with the very talented Kiki Ebsen picking up the Chynna parts. They also did songs from their albums, The Wilsons, Hey Santa, Carnie's new Christmas album, as well as covers like ABBA's Does Your Mother Know, and the Beach Boys' God Only Knows. Carnie and Rob also did an awesome job on Warm Lovin' Christmastime. After the concert we were immediately queued up for the meet and greet with the ladies that we had purchased as part of our ticket package. The meet and greet was very relaxed. Carnie's daughter, Lola was there, singing (I think it was Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star) and prancing around in her little bare feet - her Mom was also barefoot. Lola is a real cutie. We met Carnie and Wendy, chatted a few minutes, got a couple of pictures signed and took some pictures. The picture is on my myspace page, though it did not come out all the well. Not so great lighting, and I think I had my flash on the wrong setting. Total bummer!! But I will always remember meeting these ladies and how wonderfully sweet and relaxed they were. I would definitely make the trip again!! [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Date Posted: 17:39:36 12/09/07 Sun Also some Carnie news and an interesting fact about Silver Bells on the Hey Santa! album: Wilson Sisters bring holiday songs, hits to town BEVERLY KEEL Staff Writer Singer and TV personality Carnie Wilson has fallen in love with Nashville, so she is delighted that the Wilson Sisters tour brings her to Music City on Sunday. Carnie and Wendy, the daughters of Beach Boy Brian Wilson, will sing some of their hits as well as songs from Carnie's new Christmas album, Christmas with Carnie. "We are like the California Judds; that's the way I look at it," she said. "We are going to do 'Silver Bells' because on our Christmas album in 1993 'Silver Bells' was totally inspired by The Judds' version. "Last year I was on Naomi's show and I made her sing 'Winter Wonderland' harmonies with me in the dressing room." Carnie recently played the Wildhorse as part of the CMT reality show Gone Country, in which celebrities compete to see who can become the best country star. "It was the best thing I've ever done, the most fun," she said of the show. "I loved it! I couldn't stop thinking about it for weeks after it was done. I couldn't stop thinking about Nashville and the music." She hopes to spend more time here soon and had planned on buying a place here. However, she has just been given a wonderful television opportunity — she can't elaborate yet — that may keep her in Los Angeles longer. "Now our plans are on hold, but we are thinking of either renting or buying a little place in Nashville. We don't want to leave it. We feel that our lives are beginning there. We want to create a life there. We absolutely adore it." Tickets to Sunday's Wildhorse show, which starts at 6 p.m., are $20-$45. http://www.rctimes.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20071206/TUNEIN02/71206002/1005/MTCN0303 [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |

Date Posted: 08:10:30 12/05/07 Wed Just wanted to post on here that I will be going to the Nashville concert this coming weekend to see Carnie & Wendy. I know Sandi has mentioned going so I wanted to make sure she knew as well so we can meet up. Bill Pardue who used to run a Wilson Phillips fan site is also going and I'm meeting up with him. We met them back in 1999 in Stone Mountain, GA when they were with Beach Boys Family & Friends. We both have meet and greet passes along with the lounge seating so we'll be in the same area as Sandi. I hope others can try to make it as well. It was very last minute to decide on doing this because of cost and all but overall, it was cheap to get the flight and hotel. I can't pass this opportunity up....especially not knowing when it could happen again and it's already been 8 years. Anyway, very exciting, just wanted to share! [ Post a Reply to This Message ] |
