Highly slashable relationships for Michael.

The first is Jurgen, and the second is Rene. What destroyed people's interest in these, I believe, is that the actors playing these two characters simply weren't pretty enough.

I can also think of two slashy relationships for Birkoff: Hillinger and Walter. I think if the LFN fandom were larger and skewed a little younger, we would have Birkoff/Hillinger slash. Birkoff/Walter, while perfect in the "buddy slash" kind of way, is ruined by the enormous age difference which pushes it into squick territory for too many people. (Including me! Gah!)

I don't think the age difference between Birkoff and Michael is the issue -- it's only 12 years, canonically, which doesn't seem very significant to me. The problem with that pairing, in my opinion, is that I see absolutely zero subtext in the two characters' interactions with each other.

I think Operations/Petrosian slash would also be plausible, as well as Operations/Willie Kane, but again, not so much with the pretty. And, for a lot of fans, they're just too old to be interesting.
