There is something, though, in the tone of these stories that seems to mark them as distinctively 'early' as LFN fanfic - and I'm puzzling about what that might be (other than the obvious canon alterations....). Anyone else find or sense this?

I, too, sensed that the stories were written early-on. That, or Alyssandra formed her impressions of the characters in the early seasons and they carried through with little change. Nikita's light-heartedness and romantic optimism were the key features which led me to this assessment.

Although Nikita sought to maintain her hope for a better future throughout the LFN run, her character darkened with each passing season. She did truly become a part of Section, in deed if not fully in spirit. The harsher realities of this more experienced Nikita are not yet apparent in this author's version.

I enjoyed visiting this bright young Nikita once again. And while Nikita's life was often the main focus of Alyssandra's stories, in one - Mild Mannered Businessman - she gave two absolutely spot on descriptions of Michael:

***I've never seen someone suffer so beautifully for so long.

and

***I don't think I can stomach another stifled gaze of tortured longing.
