For the record: we turn our heat OFF at night.

i'm not saying that we're not up against some serious cultural challenges re; our habits and lifestylesbut this article actually makes me laugh

i'm not saying, pjk, that YOU make me laugh [tho a few of your recent posts have in the right way] just that the author makes me laugh painting this grim picture of shortages and apocalyptic economic doom and gloom and cites the Brick factory closure and the lady with the insurmountable shot-off fees.

could the owner of the factory perhaps have been a bit greedy in the last round of economic projections and left himself no wiggle room and hired too many people and bought too much new machinery and then the imports from india and china combined with the energy prices cause him to go belly up? it happens every day in business.

i personally am 6 slow months away from the unemployment line. but on the other hand we've been in business for 16 years and we know what comes with the profits++high risk of failure.

and the lady in montana? could there be a learning disability in the scenario? or fetal-alcohol syndrome? or abuse? or economic poverty in the region? lack of education? depression?

there are many things that could cause a person to heat their home with the stove. i have a few neighbors who do and the price of propane here is not much higher than the three previous years.

that's why i laugh.

it's a paranoia-inducing holiday propagandic essay that will be followed next week by essays that show all the shortages at homeless shelters and shortages at salvation armies and no food for the hungry downtrodden when in reality we throw away more food in this country everyday than is needed to feed a small nation.

we see these essays every year.

the trouble for me is the REAL issue is clouded by such blatant political bias.

factories shutting down. poor single women left to die in the cold huddled around their children. high energy costs killing the economy and stealing the Joy from the Holidays.

but who knows. maybe the writer is a Bush supporter. one way or the other, the emotion and manipulation in the essay lets the objectivity drift too far for me to respect

BUT

i'm not saying that the farm in wisconsin is a bad idea.

i'm not saying that you are off base with your concerns.

I am interested in the conversation.

i am saying that i need to point out the smell of propaganda when i sniff it just as you do so often yourself.
