Subject: Speke 1950 to 1964

Lived in Eastern Avenue a lot of good people around at that time and the still is I enjoyed every every minute i spent there I boxed for a short time at Lockheeds i think it was run by a few of the boxes fathers names i remember are the Walsh,s from Burnage Close ,also Dave and Joe Ashley Eastern Avenue . The names i remember are the Haddocks, Graves, Lloydes Irvines ,Watsons lanes, Moorhead, Hall, Morgan,Gore, Kinrade Quinn, Moss, Innes, Connolly, Shaw, Farnsworth, Lacey, Horne, Williams, Harvey, Wilson, I would like to know if there are any people from my era or anyone i have name it would be nice to hear from them John Watson

I lived in Burnage Close ,Speke from about 1948 until 1960 I attended Speke Secondary Modern for girls in central Ave.Until 1955,I worked at Lockheeds and my father also worked there he was the Boxing coach Tommy Walsh,my 2 brothers Ritchie and Billy also boxed there .I have some fantastic memories ,of the Bluebell Woods Ogglet shore ,we used to sneak down to Ogglet because it was out of bounds in our house my dad thought it was dangerous to go there,We used to attend the dance on a Friday night at the club at St Christopher's it was Shiling to get in we ,Some of my fiends where the Brown Family,The from Burnage Close, Aileen Walker from Western Ave. Willy Lumley who used drive the ice cream van.xx

Hi John, I lived in Harland green, I boxed for Lockheeds and the trainers name was Tommy Walsh. Used to finish training on Monday night the straight into Lockheeds club.

Came across your post when looking for old photos of Speke. I lived on Central Avenue from 1950 to 1958 then moved to West Mains until 1967. I went to Stocktonwood Road and then Speke Seconday Modern (Stapleton avenue). I worked in the DOve and Olive for 5 years until 1964. I now live in Vancouver Canada since 1969 but go back occasionally and love to relive old memories.

Hi my two brothers Jimmyand Ronnie Shaw also did some boxing, we lived in Alain Green. Found this site as I was looking to find some old school photos of SpekeComp no luck as yet. I live in St. Helens my brother jimmy lives in Anglesey Ronnie lives in Runcorn my sister Jeannie is in Garson I have great memories of playing in the woods for hours out all day with our sugar butties and bottle of water. Love to hear from anyone who remembers the Shaw. I also
