I can see why the parents are upset. They pay taxes for schools they don't participate in. However, so do those without children, the elderly and those whose children are no longer in the school system after graduation. The theory of 'I pay taxes for that' doesn't hold water, since we ALL do the same.

I won't be using the bus systems this fall, but will be driving my children myself. This is MY CHOICE. I don't expect to get a rebate for not using the transportation.

My theory is, if you have the ability to send your child to private school, you should also have the ability to get your child there. We that use the public school system are already in the district. There are no special trips. We stay in Dracut. The private schools are NOT in Dracut, causing bus trips to be made into outside districts.

It's time for those in private school systems to voice their opinions at those that receive their money. For the amount that they pay, transportation should also be provided. Let the private schools deal with transportation. They get private funding. Let that funding pay for transportation issues as well.
